The Orator background

The Orator

The film tells the story of a taro farmer whose sense of self and security are disrupted when he is unjustly denied his rightful position as chief, putting the fate of his family's ancestral land and cultural heritage at risk.

In a small village, a peaceful taro farmer named Saili lives with his wife Vaaiga and her teenage daughter Litia. Despite their happy life, Vaaiga's past exile from her ancestral village and Saili's denied chiefly title create tension. As Litia's beauty attracts the village's young men, Saili's plantation and family are threatened.
