The Unlucky Australians background

The Unlucky Australians

In a gripping tale of resistance and resilience, a small Aboriginal tribe stands strong against the oppressive forces of Lord Vestey, fighting to preserve their ancestral homeland from exploitation and colonialism.

British filmmaker John Goldschmidt traveled to Australia in 1973 to make a film about the Aboriginal rights movement, having supported the American Civil Rights movement and People's Democracy in Northern Ireland. He met author Frank Hardy, who shared the story of the Wave Hill Walk Off and the Gurindji people's ongoing campaign for land rights.
