They Rode West background

They Rode West

A determined doctor braves treacherous terrain to provide life-saving medical care to Native Americans, facing the very real threat of a devastating conflict.

Dr. Allen Seward, a strict and by-the-book physician, is assigned to a western cavalry post plagued by its previous commanders' lack of discipline. Despite facing resistance from the post, Seward decides to treat sick Indians on the reservation, which leads to their departure to a healthier location. The Indians join the Comanches to besiege the fort, and Seward is ostracized as a "woodhawk", a bird that turns against its own kind. The story features a diverse cast, including Donna Reed, Phil Carey, and May Wynn, who play characters from different backgrounds.
