Bob Pearson saves the life of Sheriff Dick Houston, who has captured stagecoach bandits, and is later found with a gun near the murdered body of cattleman Herrick, who had opposed Bob's courtship of his daughter Molly. Dick is forced to arrest Bob, who is tried and found guilty. Molly helps Bob escape and Dick heads to the town of Buckhorn, where he finds Bob has joined a gang of rustlers led by Laughing Bill Slagg, hoping to uncover Herrick's killer.
