A struggling romantic discovers a passion for a forgotten dance style, known as "chechotka," and teams up with a former step dance superstar, Beglov, who rose to fame in the 1950s but lost everything as the art form fell out of favor. Despite Beglov's initial reluctance, the young man convinces him to mentor and manage him in his pursuit of chechotka greatness.
