A 19th-century US Navy ship, under Captain David Porter, is preparing to dock after a year at sea. However, the arrival of Lieutenant David Farragut, a former student of Porter's, brings a new assignment: to disguise the ship and crew as pirates and assist the Navy in tracking down the criminals responsible for plundering America's merchant vessels. But as Farragut's disobedience puts the crew in danger, they uncover an international conspiracy.
