The movie Hanako to Anne is based on a novel and tells the story of Hanako Muraoka, the first person to translate Anne of Green Gables into Japanese. It follows her life at school, friendships, and career as a translator, as well as her friend Byakuren Yanagiwara's life as a tanka poet and cousin of Emperor Taisho.
