On a space colony, a group of friends accidentally discover a cutting-edge combat mecha, leading them into an intergalactic conflict and ultimately transforming them into the elite crew of a powerful warship.
In Cosmic Era 71, a war erupts between the Earth Alliance and ZAFT. ZAFT gains an initial advantage with advanced technology and massive mobile suits. The Earth Alliance responds by developing Gundams, but ZAFT steals four of the five, leaving one in the hands of a young Earth Alliance pilot.
