In the movie, the title refers to New York City's diamond district. Jane Martin, played by Claire Trevor, joins a gang of diamond thieves led by Frank Peyton, played by Cesar Romero, by using her own diamond as collateral. Police detective Walsh, played by Lloyd Nolan, provides backup as Jane goes undercover, but things quickly become too hot for her.
