Tocho, a rough-around-the-edges Basque man, leaves his mundane life as a night watchman in Bilbao to embark on a journey to Mali. He's driven by a letter from Tombuctu, Mali, and a desire to reconnect with his childhood friends, Jean Pierre and Joseba. The trio had previously traveled to Mali together to sell race cars, and Joseba had settled there ten years ago. When they arrive, they meet Joseba's newly adult daughter, Ely, who joins them on their journey. Along the way, they discover a modified Renault 4 race car that Joseba had acquired years ago. As they cross the Sahara Desert, they encounter various challenges, including being arrested, robbed, and stranded. Through their experiences, the group rediscovers the joy of living and the importance of second chances.
