Talent scout Henny mistakes understudies Judy and Marian for stars Eileen and Betty, signing them up for movies instead. After being fired, Henny later becomes the emcee of a nightclub show featuring Judy and Marian, who unexpectedly become a hit. They're then signed by big-time producer R.J. and must enlist in the military - Judy in the WAVES, Marian in the WACS, and Marty in the Marines - before filming a musical within a musical.
