Accattone!

In Rome's seedy underbelly, Vittorio Cataldi, known as "Accattone," makes a living from prostitution, with Maddalena as his only girl. He's married to Ascenza and has a young son, Iaio, but lives separately and doesn't provide for them. When Maddalena is hit and arrested, Accattone's income source is threatened, leading him to contemplate a legitimate job. He meets Stella, a young woman with a hard life, and falls in love, but considers pimping for her as the thought of a steady job becomes unbearable. As their relationship deepens, Accattone's past may catch up with him.
