T.J. "Jesse" James, a notorious outlaw, mistakenly believes insurance agent Milford Farnsworth is the key to claiming a substantial insurance reward.

Insurance salesman Milford Farnsworth unwittingly sells a $100,000 policy to notorious outlaw Jesse James. When his boss discovers the mistake, he sends Milford to retrieve the policy, but Jesse outsmarts him and steals the money. The boss then sends more money, unaware that Jesse plans to rob him, use Milford as a decoy, and collect the insurance payout.
