Rachel Baines, an 11-year-old girl, is left to navigate her daily routine alone after her father, Doyle, an Army advisor, is stationed overseas. Her mother, Valerie, manages the household and works as an office manager. When Doyle unexpectedly shows up at the house, Rachel accompanies him on a search for her mother, but they become lost. Valerie returns home to find the chores undone and Rachel gone, and a frantic search ensues to find her daughter and father.
