Alone in the Wilderness background

Alone in the Wilderness

In the unforgiving Alaskan wilderness, a solitary traveler undertakes an extraordinary odyssey, constructing a cabin and pushing his limits of endurance in solitude.

In the late 1960s, Dick Proenneke built a cabin in the Aleutian Peninsula wilderness, now Lake Clark National Park. He shot color footage of his journey, showcasing how he chose a homestead site and built his log cabin alone. The documentary follows his first year in the wilderness, capturing daily activities and seasonal changes as he adapted to living off the land.
