Aluna background

Aluna

Esteemed leaders from a long-lost South American civilization embark on a journey to educate humanity on environmental conservation, accompanied by a seasoned British documentarian and a 400-kilometer-long thread of gold.

The Kogi people, a civilization hidden on Colombia's highest mountain, believe they are guardians of the world. They have a unique connection to the universe, which they call "aluna", and perceive "black lines" that link essential sites. In 1990, they sent a warning to the world through a British film-maker, but felt it was ignored. They have now recalled the film-maker to demonstrate their connection to the universe using 400km of gold thread. The journey takes an unexpected turn as they discuss dark energy with an astronomer and correctly identify objects seen by the Hubble telescope. As they struggle to convey their message, they eventually join forces with scientists to address a grave issue, leading to a shocking and ultimately joyful conclusion.
