A Hungarian couple flees to the USA in 1950, leaving behind their infant daughter with a foster family. Six years later, they arrange for the American Red Cross to bring the girl to their new home in Los Angeles, where she struggles to adjust. As a 15-year-old, she embarks on a journey to Budapest to discover her true identity.
