Teachers and school administrators, frustrated with rising violence and lack of solutions, introduce a trial program to isolate "non-mainstream" students. Arnold Mosk, a rebellious student who uses acid to cope with his problems, is wrongly labeled a troublemaker and sent to the program. As he struggles to fit in, he faces bullying and harassment from a gang of violent thugs led by sociopath Doug Van Housen.
