In the next movie, a single mother named Grace discovers a hidden crypt in an ancient church while restoring it. The crypt contains a mysterious book of resurrection, which Father Cornelius urges her to forget. Meanwhile, her son Nathan is a shy teenager who is bullied at school and harbors a secret crush on his friend Jessica. As Nathan tries to muster the courage to confess his feelings, his friends Diggs and Henry set him up on a date with Jessica. However, things don't go as planned, and Nathan mistakenly believes Jessica is dating someone else. Heartbroken, Nathan turns to whiskey and attempts to take his own life. When his mother finds him, she accidentally hangs him, but then uses the book of resurrection to bring him back to life. However, something goes terribly wrong, and Nathan's resurrection has a devastating effect on those around him.
