In 1764, the Beast of Gevaudan terrorized the mountains of central France, killing over 100 people with its ferocity. Despite its notoriety, the true nature of the Beast remains unknown, with theories ranging from a wolf or hyena to something supernatural. The Beast is a legendary myth in France, but it has never been adapted into a movie - until now. Based on the true story, the film follows a special envoy of the King of France, a biologist, explorer, and philosopher, as he arrives in the Gevaudan region to investigate the Beast's attacks. With the help of two women and an Iroquois ally, he must not only fight the Beast but also overcome ignorance, bigotry, and conspiracy.
