A socialite and her husband raise a menagerie of animals, including chimpanzees, as her children. When she discovers a sick baby gorilla, she decides to care for it, and years later it grows strong but occasionally out of control. However, it loves and obeys her until an accident at the Chicago World's Fair sets off a chain of events that ends with the gorilla attacking its mistress in a rage.
