A group of miners discovers a salt mine in Switzerland filled with emeralds, but they're attacked by giant black beetles, leaving only one survivor. Years later, explorer John Palmer is recruited by a mysterious stranger to lead an expedition into the same mine, promising a large sum and a lakeside cottage for his family's vacation.
