Death of a Gunfighter

A traditional marshal's authority is challenged in a small Texas town when a modern law enforcement officer takes his place, sparking a violent confrontation between the old guard and their devoted followers.

In the late 19th century Texas town of Cottonwood Springs, Marshal Frank Patch is a traditional lawman struggling to maintain his authority in a community eager to modernize. When Patch kills Luke Mills in self-defense, the town leaders decide it's time for a change. They demand his resignation, but Patch refuses, citing the town's initial promise to employ him for as long as he desires. Fearing the town's future and Patch's knowledge of their dark past, the city fathers resort to violent means to eliminate the unwanted lawman.
