A traveling circus troupe, led by Mr. Danzer, sets sail for Lisbon, seeking new attractions for their modest show. On board, they discover a talented and charming Airedale dog named Hector, trained by the ship's second-pilot. Despite the owner's initial refusal, Mr. Danzer makes a generous offer, and eventually, Hector becomes the troupe's newest member. However, during their stay in Lisbon, a bar fight separates Mr. Danzer from Hector, who then embarks on a thrilling adventure through the city's streets, ultimately ending up on the wrong ship.
