A doctor tired of village life discovers a secluded and dilapidated farm, Tregunnt, which he falls in love with. However, a family from London is also interested in the property, planning to develop the surrounding land into tourist cottages. When they are outbid, the doctor decides to scare them away by pretending to be the legendary Bodmin Beast.
