Lu Shin, a young man from Canton, arrives in South America in the late 19th century with promises of work and opportunity, only to find himself trapped in forced labor in the guano mines. He meets Yu Mei, a young Chinese woman, and they fall in love. After earning his freedom through his martial arts skills and intelligence, he becomes a guide and translator for Commander Patricio Lynch, who liberates hundreds of Chinese slaves. Lu Shin organizes a Chinese battalion that changes history, leading to the conquest of Lima, where he saves his sister but loses his father.
