Jerry Barton, a test pilot, and Doc Williams, a weather bureau observer, develop a radio-controlled plane for the Lambert Airplane factory. Due to a backlog of war orders, they're unable to test their invention. They create a model to impress the factory owner, George B. Lambert, but accidentally drench his daughter, Betty. The pair are then authorized to test their remote-controlled robot pilot on one of Lambert's planes for the Army. However, foreign agents tamper with the controls, causing the plane to crash. Jerry and Doc return to their weather outpost to refine their invention.
