Two men, not romantic partners, are the protagonists of a story that unfolds across three distinct episodes, set in different times and locations. In 1978, they flee the city to indulge in a motel getaway, while in the present day, they stage a play in a rapidly gentrifying Los Angeles neighborhood. The third episode, set in 2014, sees them caught in the midst of a nightclub terror attack, somewhere undefined.
