Magical creatures unite to defend their rainforest habitat against the devastating effects of deforestation and the dark powers of Hexxus.

In the peaceful forest of FernGully, fairies live under the protection of Magi Lune, a wise and powerful fairy. Her granddaughter Crysta is fascinated by the outside world and doesn't believe humans exist, until a bat named Batty Koda tells her stories of human experiments. Crysta finds a human named Zak, shrinks him to fairy-size, and takes him to Magi Lune to un-shrink him.
