A star football player finds himself entangled in a romantic escapade with his stunning French tutor, played by Golden Globe winner June Allyson and Peter Lawford.

In the 1920s at Tait University, a school librarian named Connie Lane falls for the star football player Tommy Marlowe. However, Tommy's attention is caught by a gold-digging socialite, Pat McClellan. As Tommy's grades suffer, he's benched from the big game. Connie discovers Tommy's true feelings and concocts a plan to win his heart and get him back on the field.
