Jimmy O'Brien and Sammy Rubin, a duo of radio jingle writers, meet Mary Adams, a singer who wants to break into radio. They create a record with Mary's vocals, but an error leads to 10,000 pressings being released without Taylor's consent. Taylor initially rejects the idea of a female singer, but after hearing the record, changes his mind and searches for Mary. However, his agent signs Polly Kane, the wacky secretary of the record company owner, instead of Mary, causing chaos and misunderstandings to ensue.
