A former triad member and a police officer, both with complex pasts, cross paths as they face off against a ruthless crime lord, their destinies intertwined in a cat-and-mouse game of loyalty, betrayal, and redemption.

In the prequel to Infernal Affairs, Chan Wing Yan, a former police academy student, is given a second chance by SP Wong to infiltrate the triad family controlled by his half-brother Hau. Wing Yan is tasked with killing Hau's father and joining the police department, but things become complicated when Wong's past is revealed and a vengeful plot unfolds, including the murder of Sam's wife Mary.
