Yoel Kanovich's life is unraveling. He failed to report for army reserve training, his marriage to Sigal is struggling, and he lost his job as a history teacher after having a breakdown during a lesson on the Balfour Declaration. The same declaration that was his father's favorite, which promised a homeland for the Jewish people in Palestine. The film weaves together the violence and chaos of Israeli society with Yoel's personal life, using news reports, TV images, and visions of destruction. As Yoel searches for a way out, he encounters strange situations, leading to a tone that is both absurd and at home.
