In the movie, a wealthy student hires a street-smart individual to attend school in his place, while he enjoys his time in Europe. However, things become complicated when the substitute student falls in love with a preppy girl, which leads to tension with the school bully. Meanwhile, the hired student's past catches up with him in the form of a bookie and his own employer returns earlier than expected, causing the scheme to unravel.
