Allan Mann, a law student, becomes quadriplegic after a dog attack and a truck accident. Despite his new limitations, his life takes a dramatic turn when his best friend, scientist Geoffrey Fisher, introduces him to Ella, a specially trained monkey designed to assist him. However, Geoffrey's experimental drug begins to alter Ella's behavior, and she develops a disturbing mental connection with Allan, who starts to believe she can harm those he despises.
