The city of Mosul, home to 1.3 million people, was freed from ISIS's ruthless grip in 2017 after a coalition of local militias and unexpected allies joined forces to liberate it.

An army of over 100,000 Iraqi soldiers and militiamen mobilize to liberate Mosul from the Islamic State in the fall of 2016. An Iraqi journalist, Ali Mula, joins the force to document the liberation and encounters a diverse group of characters along the way.
