A retired high school principal, struggling to cope with the loss of his wife and abandonment by his daughter, moves to a new apartment in a small town. He soon befriends a five-year-old girl named Sachi, who is barefoot and wearing a summer dress in the winter, with cardboard angel wings on her back. Despite her initial silence, Sachi begins to open up to Yasuda and a young boy named Wataru, whom they meet at a desolate train station. Together, the trio embark on a journey, and Sachi's heart begins to heal, symbolized by her cardboard angel wings taking flight towards the real sky.
