Peter Foster, a 23-year-old still living at home, copes with his parents' constant arguing by retreating into a fantasy world. To address this, his parents enroll him in family counseling, which includes individual therapy sessions. Peter convinces the counselor to let him go away for a week, where he plans to delve deeper into his fantasy world by inserting himself into another family's life.
