Oh, Sun background

Oh, Sun

A young migrant from Mauritania settles in Paris, but his optimism is soon shattered by the stark realities of racial discrimination, as he observes the unjust treatment of black workers and the favoritism shown to less qualified whites.

A young man from Mauritania is thrilled to be selected for a job in Paris, hoping it will lead to a better life. Despite his education, he struggles to find employment and accommodation, facing racial bias as he's relegated to manual labor while less skilled whites receive preferential treatment. A dinner with a liberal friend highlights the lingering attitude of colonialism towards developing countries. Disheartened, the man flees to the woods, drawn by the distant beat of jungle drums, yearning for the warmth and familiarity of his homeland.
