Maraki, a middle-aged yakuza, returns to Tokyo after serving three years in prison for murder. He reclaims his position in the Funada gang and reconnects with his 23-year-old girlfriend, Shinko, who wants a commitment from him. Maraki also starts gambling again, but notices that the gang has merged with their rivals to maintain peace. He becomes the mentor and protector of Saeko, a young and innocent-looking woman who starts playing at the illegal card den. As he spends more time with her, Maraki begins to understand that Saeko is not as innocent as she seems and starts to question his own ritualized life.
