In a legendary time, King Arthur rules Camelot, where his Knights perform heroic deeds and joust for the delight of Princess Ilene and the citizens. A young squire, Valiant, falls for the princess and decides to accompany her to her new home, disguising himself as Sir Gawain. Meanwhile, the sorceress Morgan le Fey plots to steal King Arthur's powerful sword, Excalibur, which falls into the hands of the unstable Thagnar. Chaos ensues as Valiant faces kidnappers, a mysterious cave dweller, and Prince Arn's jealousy. Eventually, a stranger reveals Valiant's true identity as Prince Valiant, rightful heir to the kingdom of Thule, and he sets out to reclaim his birthright.
