A former counterfeiter, Lee Man, is released from a foreign prison and recruited by the Hong Kong police to help catch the leader of a counterfeit syndicate, Painter, responsible for numerous deaths. With only a vague photo to go on, Lee Man must navigate his fear of being killed by Painter, who has already eliminated others from their old gang.
