Quantum Hoops is a documentary that follows the Caltech basketball team during their final week of the 2006 season. The team is on a 21-year losing streak, with over 240 consecutive conference losses. Despite being one of the top 5 academic institutions in the world, Caltech's athletic department often takes a backseat to the achievements of its renowned faculty and scientific advancements. The team, composed of valedictorians with little to no high school basketball experience, is mocked by opposing fans as "nerds playing basketball." However, through dedication, discipline, heart, and skill, the players and coaches make for an exciting season, culminating in the final home game, where the 5 seniors aim to secure their first win and enter the history books.
