In 1913, as war threatens to engulf Europe, the Russian royal family and their court are captivated by the enigmatic mystic Rasputin. After he miraculously heals the czar's hemophiliac son Alyosha, Rasputin's fame spreads, especially among Princess Natasha. However, her fiancé Prince Paul Chegodieff becomes increasingly suspicious that Rasputin is a fake, who may bring ruin to the royal family and Russia.
