John Healy's tumultuous childhood in a strict household, marked by a violent father, leads him to find refuge in boxing, which ultimately takes a dark and sinister turn.

Based on John Healy's autobiography, this biopic tells the story of a young boy raised in a strict religious family with an abusive father, who turns to boxing for self-defense. However, he soon becomes addicted to alcohol and his boxing career ends. Struggling to find purpose, he ends up living on the streets with other alcoholics until he discovers the game of chess, which changes his life.
