Aspiring singer Jeannie Blake leaves the desert to pursue her dreams in New York, unaware that her guardians have found gold and are holding it for her. She finds work at a radio station, meets Phil Bradley, and discovers his singing voice is used for that of popular radio heartthrob Tim Winters, who can't sing. Winters tries to win Jeannie's heart, but she ultimately realizes her true feelings are for Phil, who replaces Winters as the station's singer.
