In this comedy, three friends from Utah, who are the only black individuals in their community, encounter a new black woman in town. As they compete for her attention, they worry that their lack of cultural familiarity might make them unworthy of her affection. To boost their chances, they hire an expert, Pepper Palmer, to educate them on how to embody "blackness." However, their new mentor turns out to be an unconventional and unexpected character.
