Before Krypton's destruction, General Zod, a ruthless leader, was banished to the Phantom Zone along with two other criminals. Years later, Superman, who grew up on Earth after being sent by his father Jor-El, battles Lex Luthor and inadvertently frees Zod and his companions from their prison. With their nearly unlimited powers, they seek to conquer Earth. Meanwhile, Lois Lane discovers Clark Kent's true identity as Superman and they share a romantic moment at the Fortress of Solitude. However, when Superman and Lois return to civilization, they learn of the Kryptonian trio's plan and Lex Luthor's alliance with them. Superman must regain his powers to save humanity.
