A serial rapist, known as "The Aspirin Kid," targets married women in Los Angeles, gaining entry by pretending to repay a debt. He feigns a headache, asks for water, and assaults the woman while she's distracted. He leaves behind a tin of aspirin as his calling card. After a close call with a car, he meets a police detective, Culloran, who gives him a lift. The rapist learns Culloran's address and wife's marital status, foreshadowing his next target.
