Johnny returns from the Navy to find his wife Helen embracing her new lover, Eddie, the owner of the Blue Dahlia nightclub. Helen confesses that her drunkenness led to the death of their son. After pulling a gun on her, Johnny decides she's not worth killing. However, Helen's lifeless body is soon discovered, and Johnny becomes the prime suspect.
